Bryan Gooch Redd is a co-founder of Upstream 21 and its CEO. Mr. Redd has considerable experience working with small and mid-size companies, both as an executive and as a lawyer. His management experience includes, among other things, being CEO of a company that he helped start and grow to 400 employees. His experience includes investing in, acquiring, and selling small companies, including wholly-owned subsidiaries; thus he understands such transactions from the perspective of the founder/entrepreneurs and from the perspective of the acquiring parent company.
John Hutchison is the Marketing & Sales Director of Upstream 21. John’s experience spans a number of businesses, functions and geographies, and he enjoys bringing those learned best practices to bear on our Upstream Companies. His most recent experience was at the management consulting firm The Boston Consulting Group, where he advised Fortune 100 companies on sales & marketing effectiveness and mergers & acquisitions. Previous experience also includes several corporate finance roles in a leadership development program at General Electric, where he worked in the U.S. and Europe. A native Oregonian, John received his B.S. in Finance at the University of Oregon and his M.B.A. at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
The other founding visionary behind Upstream 21 is Portfolio 21 Investments, a leader in socially and environmentally responsible investing based in Portland, Oregon. Portfolio 21 Investments, a pioneer in this sector since 1987, works with individual and institutional clients and manages a proprietary mutual fund created to invest in companies that are committed to environmentally sustainable business practices. Portfolio 21 Investments has provided the vision and inspiration for Upstream 21 as well as seed and startup funding. Portfolio 21 Investment’s founder, Carsten Henningsen, and its President and CEO, Leslie Christian, serve on the Board of Directors of Upstream 21 along with Bryan Redd.
